Favipiravir is a broad-spectrum antiviral drug. Its chemical name is 6-fluoro-3-hydroxypyrazine-2-carboxamide. It appears as an off-white to light yellow crystalline powder. As an RNA polymerase inhibitor, it can selectively block viral nucleic acid replication and exert potent inhibitory activity against a variety of RNA viruses.
